The antecedents include: demographic (age, sex and education), salary, health insurance and pension fund, working relationship with superior, demand for accountability, career development opportunity This study uses quantitative methods, which respondents are civil servant in the local government of DI Yogyakarta involving one province, four districts, and one city. Structural Equation Modeling is used as an analytical tool. The data were collected through questionnaire survey. The analysis shows that public service motivation and organizational commitment have significant effect on the performance, yet public service motivation does not have a significant effect on organizational commitment. Moreover, the antecedents such as demands for accountability are found to have a significant effect on public service motivation, but no significant effect on organizational commitment. In addition, the working relationship with the superiors is found to have a significant effect on organizational commitment and public service motivation. Meanwhile, career development, education, health insurance and pension funds have no significant effect on organizational commitment and public service motivation. On the other hand, age is found to have a significant effect on public service motivation, but no significant effect on organizational commitment. Men are found to have higher organizational commitment than women. Salary is found to have a significant effect on organizational commitment, however no significant effect on the public service motivation.
