| Summary: | Abstract, asymmetrical format of local government set up, which is currently proposed as a alternative framework in restructuring governance in Indonesia, is not well-received given the orthodoxy of state-centric analysis which has beep adopted for axiological reason: securing the Integrity of indonesia as a nation state. But given the absence of epistemological reflection within the study, the mainstream of the study has been typically state-centric and adhere to merely legalistic-administrative approach. To uncover this, the line of discourse of Indonesia as a nation-state is traced, and reveals insensitive to the daily live politics which in operarion as the art of governing. There has been discursive practice which effectively shape difference sens of unity, namely unity in terms of nation-building as oppose to state formation. The willingness to scientifically accept accept univity of Indonesia in terms of the art of managing cross-cutting affilication among different set of sub-national nationhood become prequisite for taking assymetrical format as an imperative. |
