الملخص: | This research at investigating the culture of librarians work at Gadjah Mada
University library viewed from the individual, relation, and organization perspectives.
Descriptive method with qualitative approach was applied in this research. The
informants of this research included the head of the library of Gadjah Mada
University as well the staffs of the library, under some categories, i.e. age, position
(education base) and working experience. Data collection taken from comprehend
interview, observation, and documentation study which was qualitatively analyzed.
The result of the data was described based on the problem and its purpose of its
research. Overall, the result of the research could be concluded that the Gadjah Mada
University still has not implemented the culture of work well either in the
organization, hence specific mechanism hasn�t done by the library of Gadjah Mada
University either from the individual, relation, and organization perspective.
The following description such (1) the structure shown that the culture which shaped
by the library of Gadjah Mada University was well structured, but the supporting
organization structure was not well perceived by the librarians, (2) norm shown that
still gave no great effects in shaping the culture of work, where almost all works
supported with no formal regulation (SOP), (3) dominant value shown that there is no
specific identity at the Gadjah Mada University, the library emphasized the work
based on education, knowledge, and technology, (4) ceremonial shown that there is no
effect and support to shape the culture of work at the Gadjah Mada University, (5)
performance rewards shown that the library has no reward culture particularly to
financial reward, instead of non financial reward, (6) risk tolerance shown that the
library management gave so much chances to the librarians to be innovative, but it
hasn�t been well implemented by them, (7) tolerance conflict shown that the
resistance towards the conflict is high and could be managed, even it happens
personally, (8) individual autonomy shown that the librarians still get no equal
autonomy in terms of work, (9) competence shown that the average competence
which deal to the librarians profession and (10) commitment shown that the librarians
have a high loyalist in conducting their work and achieving their goals at the Gadjah
Mada University |
