الملخص: | ABSTRAK
The addition of additive into soil is a method in soil stabilization for road construction. There are a number of additives which can be used in soil stabilization. The additives can be grouped into conventional additive, such as cement and lime, or into non conventional additive. The aim of this research was to study the strength and physical properties of cement stabilized soil and the effect that the additives has upon the properties..
The research was carried out using three types of specimens. First type was soil added with cement at concentration of 5%,6%,7%,8%,9% and 10% to the dry weight of soil, the second and third types were as the first type then added with a particular content of the additives, viz. additive designed for soil-cement and additive for concrete. The strength of admixture of soil and cement, and admixture of soil, cement and additive, were tested using unconfined compression test and direct shear test. Physical properties of the admixtures were determined using Atterberg limits test. The soil used was frOm Plered, Kulon Progo District, that could be classified as A-7.5 (AASHT0).
The research results showed that the addition of the additive at particular content into the cement stabilized soil can increase internal friction angle, strength, and plasticity index, so that it can provide engineering advantage for road construction.
