a needs investment funds of at least Rp660.1 trillion to maintain the projected economic growth of 6.2 percent per annum during the Sixth Five-Year Development Plan (PELITA VI) period. To achieve that economic growth target, 73% of the required investment funds is expected from the private sector, both domestic and foreign investors. The question that may arise: Is the target of the required investment fund reasonable to reach?
Based on the experience of Pelita V, the target is likely achievable. There is confidence that the banking industry and the capital market will help achieve this. Recent financial deregulations will also support the acquiring of necessary investment funds, especially for private sector investments.
