Background : Schizhophrenia is one of seriously persistent brain disease cause psycotic behaviour, tangible thinking, and information difficulities proceed, interpersonal relationship, and problem solving. According to Riskesdas 2007 patient with schizophrenia 4,6%. Specifically in Yogyakarta region the prevalence of schizophrenia covered 3,8%. Difficulties in emotion processing are considered a core component of schizophrenia and have been linked to functional disability. Emotion devided into positif and negatif. Music could make the listeners express their emotion such crying, laugh, smile, and eyes movement. Objectives : (i) To examine effectiveness of group music therapy on emotion in patient with schizophrenia. (ii) To find out emotion condition in patient with schizophrenia at control group. (iii) To find out emotion condition in patient with schizophrenia at intervention group. Metode : Wtih Quasi Experimental with Non Equivalent Control Group Designas as method, forty-nine responden were devided into control group (n = 25) and intervention group (n = 24). Up to 4 days of group music therapy were compared with standart care. Negatif and positif emotion were examined with PANAS instrument at pre test and post tets. Results : Positif and negatif condition on both control and intervention group reside at higher range. Analysis demonstrated there is no significancy of efffectiveness group music therapy. P value at positif emotion is 0,71 and at negatif emotion is 0,25. Conslusions : effectiveness of group music therapy on emotion in patient with schizophrenia
