الملخص: | If we are to define energy security as the availability of energy at all times in
various forms, in sufficient quantities and at affordable prices, without
unacceptable or irreversible impact on the economy and the environment, Japan is
facing an energy security predicament. For a country that was already uneasy
about energy security, the Fukushima's accident has brought a new level of focus
on Japan's energy security challenges and its foreign policy. This undergraduate
thesis will argue that Japan is facing some significant energy security challenges
after the triple disaster of March 2011, most notably a very low energy sufficiency
ratio and a heavy reliance on the Middle East. This undergraduate thesis will also
consider the potential to improve Japan's energy security position through its
underdeveloped relationship with Russia. |
