Summary:Artificial insemination (AI) is the process collecting sperm cells from a male animal and manually depositing them into the reproductive tract of female. Semen collection process, quality inspection, dilution until terminated the freezing process is a very important process in an attempt to semen quality. This paper is the result of Field Work Practice in the Central Artificial Insemination (BIB) Unggaran Semarang, about the characteristics and semen quality Brahman cattle period August-December 2013. Characteristics of semen include macroscopic observations (color, consistency, volume and pH) and microscopic observation (mass movement, motiliti, concentration, percentage of live and death sperm, and sperm abnormalities). Semen quality through several stages of testing, test after thawing and water incubator as a standard procedure in determining the resilience and vitality of semen before circulated. Center for Artificial Insemination (BIB) Unggaran has three cows Brahman as the sample material with cow code 40411, 40912 and 40913. The results of the study the average of three samples in a row is Color : beige, pH : 6.65 ± 0.104, Volume: 5.81 ± 2.468, Consistency : thick, motility (%) : 49.56 ± 21.14, mass movement : + + and concentration (�106) : 1446.45 ± 570.74. Research results from the three samples showed that the semen Brahman cattle in the Central Artificial Insemination (BIB) Unggaran included either.
