This graduating paper aimed to explain the effectiveness level of Hà ny� Pīnyīn (�语��) on mandarin lesson in the Diploma III degree Mandarin department vocational college Gadjah Mada University whether it is applied or not. In this observation, the writer collects the data by interviewing the lectures of Mandarin Department, Vocational College Gadjah Mada University, joined with Mandarin Class, using the questioner method, and library study. The process of teaching Mandarin in the Diploma III degree Mandarin Department vocational college Gadjah Mada University is good, and this case is supported by professional teacher, the applying of teaching method is effevective, the material is well-ordered, and the motivation of students in learning Mandarin. The result of this research indicating the applying of Hà ny� Pīnyīn (�语��) on mandarin lesson in the Diploma III degree Mandarin Department vocational college Gadjah Mada University is very effective if it is aplied in I (first) semester and II (second) semester. However, it is not effective if the Hà ny� Pīnyīn (�语��) is applied in III (third), IV (fourth), V (fifth), and VI (sixth) semester. To reach the effective of teaching on mandarin lesson in the Diploma III degree Mandarin Department vocational college Gadjah Mada University is applying a few methods : memorize vocabulary, simple conversation, story-telling, quiz, translating, games, discussion, challenge.
