Summary: | Trip generation modeling is the initial process of the four-stage transportation
planning model aiming to obtain the number of the movement generated by the
origin zone (settlement) and the destination zone (nonsettlement) in specified
intervals at present to forecast movements in the future.
Zone is a unit of transportation analysis, and in general administrative
boundary is often used as a zoning boundary for field data collection because it is
easier and less expensive compared to the census. It, however, has some
drawbacks among others because the characteristics of movement within the
administrative boundary are considered uniform or equal. Upon the consideration,
the remote sensing data, particularly the Quickbird imagery with a 0.61 m high
spatial resolution is used to overcome the drawbacks by defining a more detailed
zone system called as semi-aggregate approach.
Zone characteristics are determined by the type of land use obtained from the
Quickbird imagery processing which is divided into the attraction zone consisting
of settlement, building density, and building regularity, and the one consisting of
individual objects such as schools, mosques, and offices. The characteristics of the
zone assisted with the geographic information system identify the width and
height of building in each zone.
The width and height of buildings identified by the Quickbird imagery
become the independent variable as the factors affecting the movement. To form
the trip generation and trip attraction models, regression analysis of the
independent variable as the factors affecting the movement is used. Meanwhile, to
form the trip generation and trip attraction models, the regression analysis is used.
The multiple linear regression prerequisite resulted in trip generation and trip
attraction models. The trip generation model produced

= 1,128 + 0,061(X1) +
0,038 (X2) meanwhile the trip attraction model produced
ô»ô·
= 103,295+ 0,077 (X1)
+ 1,973 (X2). The models were put with OD 2007 after the formation in OD
Quickbird Imagery. The process resulted in corrected Quickbird imagery-based
models of trip generation and trip attractionproduced Fk = 1869,5 + 0,8606 . YQb |
