PRESERVASI ARSIP DI BADAN PERPUSTAKAAN DAN ARSIP DAERAH DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA

This final report explained about archives preservation which was held in Badan Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. The base of this final report was the field work practice which was held for about one month. The preservation process included prevention action, treatment action and also restoration action. The archives information storage media covers from the entire kinds of textual archive and new media archive. The explained data were gathered through three methods, they are library study, interview and observation. The prevention action in this process is operated with the place preservation of the storage media. This way of preservation includes the preservation of safety building, disciplines of the worker, temperature and humidity control and lighting. Whereas, for the information preservation includes replacement of medium of the archives storage media, fumigation which is held routinely once in a year, do the camphor system which is held minimal twice a year depended on the availability of budgeting and media transfer. Usually for the restoration process, it is specially scheduled in order to do the process archives sorting activity which will be re-stored because of the minimal budget. The conclusion of this final report is that the Badan Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta has done all series of preservation process with the sufficient equipment. However, the improvement of its employee�s creativity needs to be increased because of the available budget restrictiveness. On the other hand, it is necessary for the society to be familiar with Badan Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, therefore Badan Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta needs to find ways to make the society knows about the archive collection which they had.
