This graduating paper analyzes a poem entitled If We Must Die written by Claude McKay. It is a poem about the spirit of a society struggling against discrimination. The objective of the study is to analyze the poem objectively and to find the moral values implied in the poem. The approach used in this graduating paper is the objective approach. This approach is chosen because the extrinsic elements of the poem will not be taken into consideration. The analysis will be limited to the intrinsic elements of the literary work. To support the analysis and the interpretation, different kinds of information sources are used, including books and the Internet. The result of the research reveals several moral values implied in the poem. Generally, the poem teaches the readers not to be afraid when facing the unrighteousness and to fight for the rights.
