Interaction between guest and host in the tourist destination has been a fascinating topic to be discussed. Sosrowijayan is a tourism area in Yogyakarta where interaction between these two parties occurs inevitably. Based on criteria for the most frequent interaction to be happen in Sosrowijayan, foreign tourists interact more with the locals, not only with those who work in the tourism business but also those of the non workers such as visitors to restaurants or cafes provided in the area. Types of guest and host interaction vary according to the motivation and actors related with the process. The first interaction most likely to happen is between guest and host for the business transaction. The actors of the interaction are guests who consume the products and hosts who provide them. The second interaction happens when guest and host meet each other at the same tourist attraction. In this case, at the resto cafes in Sosrowijayan.Another type of interaction happen when both guest and host try to get information from each other, either about tourism, culture or person to person data, anywhere in Sosrowijayan. Through a research, it was learnt that interaction happens for tourism transcaction gained the highest rank in frequency and intensity, followed by interaction happens at a tourist attraction. In addition, interaction to get information on tourism, culture or personal experience was rarely to occur for a long period if it didnt come side by side with one of the interactions mentioned before. It was then acclaimed that interaction between guest and host could be categorised based on the actors, whether it was between tourists with worker-hosts or tourists with non worker-hosts. Socio cultural impacts as the result of the interaction include the demonstration effect, change on social values such as norms, the idea of male and female relationship, materialism and on cultural essence in art performance, the cultural learning and also the tourism culture. These affect more on the host rather than the guest due to short length of stay. They created both negative and positive effects regarding the fact that even though there was a cultural change, yet it drewtourist�s attraction.
