Description
Summary:Mt. Gede has springs distribution which are used by local people. The geothermal utilization plan in this area has raised concerns among local people due to springs contamination caused by drilling waste. The drilling waste disposal would not contaminate groundwater if managed properly according to geological and hydrogeological condition. Therefore, it is necessary to do study which shows the geological and hydrogeological condition before drilling as a planning and anticipation, so there will be no springs contamination . So, this study is proposed to do geological and hydrogeological mapping, also identify physical and chemical groundwater condition. The method of this study consists of preliminary study, geological and hydrogeological mapping, physical and chemical groundwater properties analysis. Geological mapping which have been done is based on base maps such as lineaments map, slope analysis map, drainage pattern map, and vulcanostratigraphic map. The results of geological mapping consists of 21 geomorphological units, 21 lithological units, five geological structures as faults, three alteration zones, and three eruption periods as shown in vulcanostratigraphic column. Eruption period began with emersion of Khuluk Pangrango, Khuluk Gumuruh, Khuluk Gede, Gumuk Sela, and ended with Gumuk Ratu. Hydrogeological mapping is based on geological mapping result such as slope analysis map, geological map, and geological cross-section. The result of hydrogeological mapping consists of recharge zone which located on peak and slope of the mountain, discharge zone on slope, four spring types, three aquifer units, and three probability of subsurface groundwater flow in hydrogeological cross section. Identification of physical and chemical conditions of groundwater have been done based on physical and chemical properties of spring samples which resulted some graphics and diagrams. Based on the results, there is five spring samples which expected to be influenced by thermal water both physically and chemically. The five samples have north to north-east groundwater pattern of study area which caused by mixing process with hydrothermal fluid and dissolution of alteration minerals.
