Summary: | Mount Lokon is an active volcano in North Sulawesi that is tectonically located in the Celebes – Sangir islands arc. Research on volcanoes in North Sulawesi has not received special attention, so this study intends to map eruptive products using the rules and correlations of product units based on the Indonesian Stratigraphic Code (ICS). The method is divided into general surveys in the form of field geological mapping and DEM image analysis as validation and laboratory methods consisting of petrography analysis to determine the kinematics of magma and geochemistry of the main elements and traces obtained from x-ray fluorescence (XRF) to determine the regional characteristics of volcanoes and tectonic environments. Geomorphological analysis based on domain division succeeded in dividing topographic characteristics and straightness into 9 main domains, so that based on these domains and mapping results, 17 rock units were obtained. The research area can be divided into 4 crown, namely Tatawiran Crown, Kinilow Crown, Empung Crown and Lokon Crown, Lokon Crown can be divided into three hummock, namely Tou Lokon Hummock, Irang Hummock and Tompuluan Hummock. Petrography analysis shows several textures and structures that can tell the kinematics of magma especially for lava, the distribution of lava found ranging from andesite and basalt, special textures commonly found are coarse sieve (CS) glomerocryst (GL) and microlite texture (MC). Geochemical data show that the magma affinity value is divided into calc-alkaline series for Lokon Crown and high-K calc-alkaline for Kinilow-Empung Crown, a TiO2 value of < 1,4 wt% indicates that magmatism is related to the subduction process. The TiO2-MnO-P2O5 variation shows that the tectonic environment is in an archipelagic arc with a comparison of SiO2 with CaO/(Na2O+K2O) showing that the magmatic arc in which the Lokon volcanic complex activity is located transitions from the island arc type to the mature arc. The spider diagram also shows that there are characteristics of high continental characterizing elements such as Rb and Zr. So that the arc of the islands where the activity of the Mount Lokon complex is in transition to a mature arc type. |
