總結:Biodiversity of zooplankton in coastal area of Klong Pak-Meng, Trang Province was investigated in April and December 2003 representing the pre- and post-southwest monsoon periods, respectively. Zooplankton samples from 5 stations were collected by vertically towed nets with two mesh sizes, 100 and 330 µm. Environmental parameters were measured in situ and water samples were collected for analyses of nutrients and chlorophyll a. Average density of zooplankton larger than 100 micrometers in pre-southwest monsoon period was in the range of 4.52 X 10⁶ - 3.68 X 10⁷ inds/100 m³, which was higher than in the post-southwest monsoon where the density ranged from 1.93 X 10⁵ - 3.01 X 10⁶ inds/100 m³. Temperature and salinity were the most important factors affecting zooplankton in this season. Average densities of zooplankton larger than 330 micrometers were not significantly different between two seasons with the densities in the range of 6.53 X 10⁴- 1.59x10⁵ inds/100 m³ and 7.30xl0⁴- 1.59x10⁵ inds/100 m³ in pre- and post- southwest monsoon periods, respectively. High zooplankton densities were found in the near-shore stations and the densities decreased offshore which was coincided with the variations in chlorophyll a concentrations. Harpacticoid copepods and bivalve larvae were the most abundant zooplankton in the near-shore stations corresponding with microphytoplankton-dominated chlorophyll fractions in the near-shore stations. Calanoid copepods, cyclopoid copepods, chaetognaths and larvaceans were found in abundance in offshore stations which the contributions of chlorophyll a fractions from nanophytoplankton and picophytoplankton. Copepods population found in high densities and high diversity in this area comprised of 22 species from 10 Families of Order Calanoida, 2 species from 1 Family of Order Cyclopoida, 2 species from 2 Families of Order Harpacticoida and 7 species from 2 Families of Order Poecilostomatoida. Microsetella norvegica and Acartia amboinensis were the dominant species in this area. Five other copepod species; Pseudodiaptomus bowmani, Calanopia australica, Pontella forficula, Tortanus barbotus and Corycaeus andrewsi were first recorded in Thai waters. Only 4 species of chaetognaths, the most important carnivorous zooplankton, were found with Sagitta enflata and S. neglecta as dominant species.
