One industry that has been particularly sensitive to economic downturns is the property and casualty insurance business. The purpose of the research is to investigate the financial factors that is able to estimate the financial strength of the Thai property and casualty insurance business. This research used discriminant analysis to derive important financial factors as an indicators to estimate firm’s strength. The benchmakings of financial strength are obtained from those of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Insurance Solvency International standard investigation and by level of Equity. The data are drawn from the department of insurance during the period of 1994 to 1998. This study found the crucial factors those are significantly differentiate between strong and weak property and casualty insurance company as follow : 1) asset management ratios 2) management ratios and 3) leverage ratios and 4) profitability ratios. These financial ratios have been found to be the highly accurate measures to classify firm s financial status during 1994 to 1997. Therefore, the result of this study can be used as one of the tools to monitor and as an early warning to differentiate the financial strength of the Thai property and casualty insurance industry. จากวิกฤตการณ์ทางเศรษฐกิจของประเทศไทยก่อให้เกิดผลกระทบในเรื่องปัญหาความมั่นคงต่อธุรกิจในทุก ๆ ส่วนของประเทศ ซึ่งหนึ่งในธุรกิจที่ได้รับผลกระทบอย่างมากตามสภาวะถดถอยทางเศรษฐกิจในครั้งนี้ก็คือธุรกิจประกันวินาศภัย วัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัยในครั้งนี้ คือ ศึกษาถึงปัจจัยต่าง ๆ อันจะมีผลเกี่ยวเนื่องกับปัญหาความมั่นคงของธุรกิจประกันวินาศภัยและนำเอาปัจจัยเหล่านี้ใช้เป็นดัชนีตัวหนึ่งในการตรวจสอบถึงความเข้มแข็งทางการเงินและการดำเนินงานของธุรกิจประกันวินาศภัย ซึ่งการวิจัยนี้ใช้การวิเคราะห์การจำแนกกลุ่มเพื่อศึกษาถึงปัจจัยที่มีความสำคัญในการใช้เป็นดัชนีชี้วัดและเป็น สัญญาณเตือนภัยล่วงหน้าถึงสถานะความมั่นคงทางการเงินของบริษัทประกันวินาศภัย โดยการใช้หลักเกณฑ์มาตรฐานจาก National Associate of Insurance Commissioners จาก International Solvency Insurance และจากระดับเงินกองทุนตามพระราชบัญญัติประกันวินาศภัย พ.ศ. 2535 ในการจำแนกกลุ่มความมั่นคงของบริษัทประกันวินาศภัย ซึ่งผู้วิจัยได้ทำการศึกษา โดยใช้ข้อมูลในช่วงระยะเวลาตั้งแต่ ปี พ.ศ.2537 - พ.ศ.2541 ซึ่งผลการวิจัยพบว่ามีกลุ่มอัตราส่วนทางการเงินที่สามารถบ่งชี้ความแตกต่างอย่างมีนัยสำคัญระหว่างกลุ่มบริษัทประกันวินาศภัยที่มีสถานะทางการเงินมั่นคงและไม่มั่นคงอยู่ 4 กลุ่มอัตราส่วนในการที่จะสามารถจำแนกกลุ่มบริษัทประกันวินาศภัยตามปัญหาความมั่นคงออกจากกันได้ คือ 1. กลุ่มอัตราส่วนประสิทธิภาพในการ บริหารสินทรัพย์ 2. กลุ่มอัตราส่วนการบริหารจัดการ และ 3. กลุ่มความสามารถในการทำกำไร และ4. กลุ่มการวัดโครงสร้างหนี้ จากการศึกษาตัวแบบจำลองนี้เพื่อเป็นสัญญาณเตือนภัยทางการเงินในธุรกิจประกันวินาศภัยพบว่าตัวแบบจำลองที่ได้มีความสามารถในการจำแนกกลุ่มได้ค่อนข้างสูง ดังนั้นผลการวิจัยนี้เป็นแนวทางหนึ่งในการที่จะเป็นตัวแบบเพื่อการเป็นสัญญาณเตือนภัยล่วงทางการเงินในการบ่งชี้ถึงสถานะความมั่นคงของธุรกิจประกันวินาศภัยต่อไปได้ Insurance against loss -- Thailand Financial securityประกันวินาศภัย -- ไทย ความมั่นคงทางการเงิน ฐิติวดี ชัยวัฒน์ https://digiverse.chula.ac.th/digital/file_upload/biblio/cover/28658.jpg |
