Description
Summary:The synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using eco-friendly natural reagent is of particular interest as this can essentially eliminate the use of excessive solvents and potentially harmful reducing agents. In this work, we aimed to develop an eco-friendly, rapid and simple procedure for the synthesis of AuNPs using aqueous extract of Cryptolepis buchanani latex as a reducing agent and modified chitosan to enhance theirs stability. Reaction parameters including concentration of chloroauric acid, latex extract, NaOH and chitosan were optimized for maximum yield of AuNPs. The synthesized AuNPs were characterized by FT-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy which showed the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 539 nm. In addition, in vitro antioxidant assays demonstrated that the synthesized AuNPs possess antioxidant properties. Moreover, the cytotoxicity test on normal cell line showed excellent viability of AuNPs stabilized by chitosan.
