The project applied the Case Study Method where a case was compared to a theoretical model. The intention was to come up with a model applicable to the Asian cities. Ashworth's model of the evolution of the Historic City was chosen due to its identification of distinctive stages in tourist-historic city. Bangkok was used for the case study. The reasons being Bangkok's rich history background, its tourism development in recent years, and of availability of data on tourism and other urban facets. Following detailed analyses, the evoluation of Bangkok was modelled.
