總結:Asthma is airways disorder that associated with an increased of generation Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). ROS leads to lung damge caused by direct effect of oxidative stress on epthileal cell and shedding cell that linked to pathogenesis of asthma, which induces airway hiperreativity through histamine release by mast cell and mucus secretion. Low antioxidant intake may play role in response inflammatory because of deficits antioxidant defense/ protection against ROS . Objectives : the aim of this research to identify wether antioxidant intake is associated with asthma attack frequency in adults. Methods : Cross sectional study of 89 asthmatic who attended outpatient asthma and COPD clinic at RS Persahabatan which taken using purposive sampling. The data were collected by asthma control test, risk asthma questionnaire and semi-quantitative questionnaire and were analyzied using chi-square test and spearman correlation. Result : Uncontrolled asthmatics had higher intake vitamin A than controlled asthma patient. But on the contarary, intake vitamin C and E were higher in uncontrolled asthmatics. There was no significant difference in dietary intake of antioxidant (vitamin A, C and E) betweem uncontrolled asthmatic and controlled asthmatic (p>0,05). Conclusion : These results didnât support the hypothesis that antioxidant intake (vitamin A, C and E) had positive association with asthma attack frequency
