總結:Periodontal health can be influenced by an imbalance of nutrients and types of food texture. Vegetarian diet is different from diet in general. Vegetarian diet is a diet that avoids consumption of meat, polutry, and seafood. And divided in two groups there are vegan (pure vegetarian) and impure vegetarian. This study aimed to determine the differences in periodontal health between vegan (pure vegetarian) and impure vegetarian by measuring number of bacterial colonies in gingival crevicular fluid (in college student of Yogyakarta). This observational study with cross sectional approach involved 30 vegetarians, who were divided into two groups. Vegan group consisted of 15 subject and impure vegetarian group consisted of 15 subjects. All subject aged 17-30 years old who had been diet at least 2 years and lived in Yogyakarta. Gingival crevicular fluid sample was taken from one healthy lower posterior teeth with paper point were inserted into the sulcus. After that, samples were cultured in BHI agar for 24 hours at 37oC. The number of bacterial colonies that grown were counted then the results was analyzed using independent sample t-test. The result showed a significant difference (p<0.05) between the number of bacterial colonies in gingival crevicular fluid of vegan (77,33 ± 37,894 x 101 CFU/ml) and impure vegetarian (45,60 ± 25,542 x 101 CFU/ml). Concluded the number of bacterial colonies in gingival crevicular fluid in vegan is higher than impure vegetarian (in college student of Yogyakarta). Keywords: impure vegetarian, number of bacterial colonies, vegan/pure vegetarian
