PERBANDINGAN KONTRIBUSI SURAT KABAR LOKAL DENGAN NASIONAL DALAM PEMBERITAAN PERTANIAN DI DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA

This research aims to: (1) identify the presentation of agricultural news from news item total, news volume, news sources, news topic, and also scope of news coverage in SKH Kompas and SKH Kedaulatan Rakyat, (2) compare the content related with the agricultural information that was presented by two type of newspaper that have difference scope of publishing, is local newspaper (SKH Kedaulatan Rakyat) and national newspaper (SKH Kompas). The research took two sample of newspapers, local newspaper was represented by SKH Kedaulatan Rakyat and national newspaper was represented by SKH Kompas. The basic method used in this research was comparative descriptive method, using content analysis technique. Sampling was done by simple radom sampling, for newspapers in the period of January � December 2013, by two samples in each month for every newspapers. To test the hypothesis, it was used One-Way Analysis of Variance and Chi-square Test. The research results showed that SKH Kedaulatan Rakyat give has higher contribution in reporting agricultural news in quantity, because it reporting news item total and news volume more than SKH Kompas. Their news sources was dominated by government. The major topics of both were about technology, resources development, and agricultural production and the news was dominated by local news, SKH Kedaulatan Rakyat was dominated by local news in regency scope, whereas SKH Kompas was dominated by local news in province scope. Eventhough they presented in different intensity, over all the presentation of the news were good, inline with the rule of news reporting and non partial.
