| الملخص: | The objective of the study was to investigate the effects of sex on plasma
calcium level of Tegal ducks. Twelve (12) productive adult Tegal ducks�s (6 drakes
and 6 laying ducks) were used in this study. The birds were kept in open cage with
length x width x height = 3.5x1.5x2.5m for a month with moist diets composed of
bran and concentrate (ratio 2:1). Morning blood samples were collected through
femoralis vein. Serum concentrations were determined by Beckman Counter AU. The
obtained data were statistically analyze using t-Test. The average level of serum
calcium of laying ducks was 5.54 mg/dl. Meanwhile drakes had the Ca level of 2.62
mg/dl. The mean calcium level of drakes was significantly different from that of
laying ducks (P<0.05). Based on the result of the study, it can be inferred that serum
calcium level in blood serum Tegal ducks is really affected by sex factor.
