| Summary: | Since have discovered in the Dutch expedition in the slope of Mount Merbabu at 1822, until now, the manuscripts of Merbabu (which also known as Merapi-Merbabu collection), have uncommon studied. Depart from that condition, this research have done. The object of this research is Gita Sinangsaya—either one of text which only can find in the Merbabu colletion. This text haven’t obtained some attention from the prior reseacher yet. There are six manuscript which contain this text. Three of them are palmleaf manuscript (lontar), with Buda script, and originate from Merbabu slope (lontar 212, 231, 313), meanwhile the three other are the copy in Javanese script which made by Bataviasch Genootschap in the last of nineteenth century (Br 89, CS 102, KBG 179). The aim of this study is to make the text edition of Gita Sinangsaya, translation in Indonesian, and continued with the study to dig of implied significance of this text. The applying of philology theory has relevance in this study. The text of Gita Sinangsaya had had transmitted and appears in some manuscripts. The aim of philological approach in this research is to choice an authoritative manuscript. Lontar 212 has been choice as legger with some reasons from physical condition, completeness, volume (has one stanza more than other), readable, and precision of metrical norm. So that the reader can follow the reading material as existed on that manuscript more closely, the diplomatic edition has prepared in this study. Then, the critical edition and translation also have prepared in this. That aim to help the readers to understand the matters that emitted from the text. The Riffaterre’s semiotics theory has also applied in this study, because the text of poetry, and any literary texts, considered suggest something indirectly. As the gita text, Gita Sinangsaya can be observing by some aspect in kakawin poetics. The differentiation two kind of poetry has situated at the prosody. Kakawin poetry employ Indian prosody, but gita employ Javanese prosody—and then can be relating with kidung. As like as kakawin, in the Gita Sinangsaya also contain the concept of rasa and yoga. Moreover, the concept of rasa emphasize in this text. And then, the significance of Gita Sinangsaya centralize to śānta—a kind of rasa which considered as the highest, which also believed can convey the readers to get the aesthetic and religious experience simultaneously. |
