| الملخص: | River is space element which is very important for Banjarmasin. Besides its
function as ecological system of the city, river also such as cultural identity,
source of living, and there is tourism potential. However, river degradations are
happening now days. Research aims to know the concept behind the phenomenon
of people�s activities on the river in Banjarmasin.
This is a qualitative research with phenomenology�s approach. The
determining of location is based on the existence of activities that happen on the
river flow with takes four rivers as an object of observation are Sungai Martapura,
Sungai Pekapuran, Sungai Kuin & tepian Sungai Barito, and Sungai Kelayan. The
data were gathered through interviews and field observations. Analysis of data did
with an inductive analysis which start from the unit of information, determining of
themes, grouping themes to conceptualize, and formulating the main concept.
The research found that the concept is the coexistence of the activities at river
space in Banjarmasin. The coexistence of the activities is the contiguity of many
activities which happen on the river and surrounding area until capable to create
the river�s existence as a space which have a value in Banjarmasin. The existence
of activities was influenced by three child�s concepts, there are (1) the motive to
space from the subject of river space, (2) the shape of space, and (3) the values of
space from the river. The coexistence of activities at this river space occurs either
activities at river�s only and activities at the river and the ground too. Each this
activity is to coexistence appropriate to the role each other, as a supply and as a
demand. Thereby, this concept of the coexistence of the activities has been behind
the phenomenon of people�s activities on the river now days until to form a space
which is have a value in Banjarmasin |
