Summary: | The purpose of this researh was to identity the Genus of bacteria that produce
biosurfactant which has antifungal activity to Candida albicans ATCC 10231.
The bateria named WNA 4.1.7 isolated from Mangrove Wonorejo Surabaya.
Mangrove Wonorejo Surabaya known contaminated of heavy metals. Heavy
metals could induce microorganism to produce biosurfactant. Because of
biosurfactant have amphiphilic characteristic that can reduce the surface tension,
biosurfactant was for therapeutic and biomedical importance, such as
antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. Method Biosurfactant activity
test used oil spreading, drops collapse, and parafilm test and antifungal activity
method used diffusion agar. The result of this research showed that Genus of
WNA 4.1.7 isolate was belong to Bacillus because WNA 4.1.7 isolate was Gram
positive, bacil shape, aerob, and having oval endospore in center of the cell. The
result of biosurfactant activity by oil spreading method showed by clear zone. The
average clear zone was 49.55 mm, the average droplets of parafilm test was 6.63
mm, and the result drops collapse test was positive showed by spreading and
drowned cell free supernatant of WNA 4.1.7. Cell free supernatant of WNA 4.1.7
could inhibit growth of Candida albicans ATCC 10231. The average inhibitory
diameter is 28.45 mm. The conclusion of this research proved that WNA 4.1.7
isolate belong to Genus Bacillus which have biosurfactant and antifungal of
Candida albicans. |
