From the tree bark of Shorea stenoptera Burck (Dipterocar paceae) two phenolic compounds had been isolated, namely bergenin and a-viniferin. The structures of the two compounds were determined on the basis of UV and IR spectra as well as by comparison with reference compounds. Compounds 18 and 23 were isolated from ethyl acetate and dichlorometane fractions respectively from methanol extract of the tree bark. The isolation of these compounds were carried out using various separation and purification steps including chromatoraphic and crystallization techniques. shrimp Artemia salina with LC50 = >500gg/mL and LC50 = 15,1 gg/mL respectively. |
