Description
Summary:Uranyl ion(UO22+) contaminated in trisodium phosphate solution was adsorbed batchwisely by hydroxyapatite(Ca5(PO4)3OH) and tricalcium phosphate(Ca3(PO4)2) at pH 12 and ambient temperature. Influence of trisodium phosphate concentration on the amount adsorbed was also investigated. For 30 mg/L of uranium and 0.2 g hydroxyapatite to 50 ml solution and 2 g tricalcium phosphate to 50 ml solution, the adsorption equilibria reached 4.4 mg uranium per gram of hydroxyapatite, and 0.99 mg uranium per gram of tricalcium phosphate. For one hour adsorption, the amount adsorbed reached 95.2% and 97.0% of equilibrium amount, respectively. The relationships of amount adsorbed with the solution concentration were obeyed Freundlich’s model. In addition, sodium ion was also adsorbed on both adsorbents. Again, the relationships of amount adsorbed with the Na+ concentration were agreed with Freundlich’s model. The adsorbed amount of uranium on both adsorbents was reduced by increase in Na+ concentration.
